ABSTRACT

This paper presents a design of fuzzy I-PD (integralproportional plus derivative) controller for controlling the speed of two-inertia system. The proposed controller is a modification of conventional I-PD controller based on the characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) method. It consists of a Mamdani fuzzy I controller and a Mamdani fuzzy PD controller. The fuzzy I-PD controller parameters are adjusted to reduce overshoot of the system response. The satisfied system performances are shown by the simulation results in controlling the two-inertia system using the proposed controller with the same parameters (proportional gain, integral gain and derivative gain) as the conventional I-PD controller.

Keywords: Mamdani fuzzy I-PD controller, I-PD controller, Two-inertia system.
