ABSTRACT

This paper explores the subject of cavitation dynamics in terms of the prediction of cavitation and its erosive potential. In the case of prediction the present capabilities are examined from a design and research perspective while in the latter context the underlying physical phenomena are considered in relation to the erosion mechanism. The discussion is framed in the context of the design and operation of offshore supply and other ships and the cavitation problems that may be encountered with the operation of these vessels.
