ABSTRACT

A number of new composite foundation techniques for soft soil improvement have been developed and adopted in various geotechnical applications in China. These include large diameter cast-in-place concrete pile (PCC), grouted gravel/stone column, cast-in-situ concrete X-section pile and reinforced stone columns, The principles, design method, and construction procedures of each type of pile are introduced in this paper. The applications of these new techniques are also illustrated using case histories.
