ABSTRACT

Extensive vibrocompaction trials were conducted in a reclamation project site using hydraulically placed sand fill. The energy input by the vibroprobe was recorded. The relative density values of the sand fill were assessed from the tip resistances of the cone penetration tests. Empirical relationship between the relative density, the energy and the distances to the compaction points is established.

Keywords: Vibrocompaction; compaction energy; relative density.
