ABSTRACT

In recent years, the frequency of large-scale earthworks with high embankments has increased in line with the rising scale of construction projects, and efficient implementation of such work is expected to lead to reduced construction costs and other economic effects as a result of early completion. Accordingly, improvement of embankments by making each layer thicker than the standard value (referred to below as embankment thickening improvement) was studied from the viewpoints of efficiency and economy. While embankment thickening improvement in past studies used large rollers, their marketability is low. The improvement in this study was therefore conducted using standard rollers that are used for actual on-site embankment work.
