Presenter Prof. Clive Davies, Massey University, New Zealand
Co Author(s) Luke A. Fullard and Graeme C. Wake

Clive Davies is Professor of Particle and Process Engineering in the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. Before moving to Massey University in 2003, he was a Distinguished Scientist and Team Leader at Industrial Research Limited, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. Clive has a BSc in Chemical Engineering, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from The Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London. His principal research interests relate to the handling and processing of particulate materials and the development of instrumentation for measuring and characterizing powder properties and flows; his publications include papers on fluidization, pneumatic conveying, powder flow measurement and characterization; he holds patents on eight different devices. He works closely with industry and his inventions have found commercial application in New Zealand, Australia, USA and Europe. Clive has received a number of awards including Rio Tinto Award (2002), awarded by The Australian/New Zealand Federation of Chemical Engineers; IPENZ Technical Award (2002) (Manufacturing and Mechanical); New Zealand Science & Technology Medal (1995), awarded by The Royal Society of New Zealand; and Ministerial Award for Excellence in Technology (1987), awarded by the Ministry of Science, New Zealand.
