ABSTRACT

Multi-Core application design and development is all about using parallel programming techniques and tools to develop software that takes advantage of multi-core architectures. In this paper OpenMP is used to study the performance of Intel® Core™2 Duo processor. The performance is evaluated with varying size of data and sorting algorithms. Results of experiments show significant performance improvement due to parallelization of codes using multi threading techniques on Intel® Core™2 Duo processors.

Keywords: Multi-core processors, Parallelism, Granularity, Performance gain.
