ABSTRACT

Education is one of the significant milestones in one’s life. Education leads the individual towards the comprehension of the art of life. It moulds the young minds and ignites them to reach the new heights. It is the place where the child learns much more than the defined curriculum. Schools act as resource centres for higher educational institutes, which in turn provide valuable human resource to the nation.

Grooming of human mind & brain at early stage is significant. Children between critical and prolonged age group of 5 to15 are adaptable to new methods and mentoring them in right direction promises long lasting results for tomorrow’s intellectual capital. Much of part of the physical, mental emotional & intellectual development of these young minds is associated to their schooling. An effective school acts as a catalyst for bringing about a positive transformation at root level.

The hallmarks of an effective school are professional value leadership, shared vision and mission, learning environment, positive reinforcement, purposeful teaching, and parent- school partnership. These in a true sense depend upon the stake holders like School committee, school head or principal, teachers & students along with the factors like school philosophy, infrastructure, curriculum, teaching methodology and evaluation. The direction of the student’s studies must be towards greater understanding and competence. Thus while it may be appropriate for a school to include the acquisition of techniques or skills or learning of data, these must lead to a higher level of intellectual and creative performance of students than that remaining intrinsic in the learning of only skills and techniques.
