ABSTRACT

There are a number of slopes within close proximity to the at grade rapid transit system (RTS). Any slope failure could interrupt the service of the rapid transit system. Since 1999, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has carried out annual inspections of slopes during the rainy season to check for any signs of erosion, local failure, bulging, tension cracks or visible seepage or ponding. LTA would be engaging a consultant to carry out a three stages slope management framework for the slopes along the rapid transit system. This paper presents the maintenance strategy of slopes along existing rapid transit system and observations from instrumentation installed on one of the slopes.
