ABSTRACT
This paper provides an overview of tunnel power socket outlet earthing arrangements in dc electrified rail transit tunnels. A study was carried out to identify the risks associated with different power socket outlet earthing arrangements under normal, single equipment failure and double equipment failure scenarios. In responding to the identified risks, various mitigation measures are proposed and their pros and cons in terms of costs, maintenance requirement, and proven services records are described.
Keywords: Tunnel power socket outlet, Earthing, Railway.
