ABSTRACT

This paper shares a brief outline of SMRT’s strategies and practices in the management of the assets under its charge. These assets include the existing North-South East-West Line (NSEW Line), the BPLRT, the new Circle Line (CCL) and other systems managed by SMRT. The paper also reviews some of the tools used in SMRT to track and estimate asset values and life cycle costs. Based on case studies in SMRT the paper illustrates that timely decisions to upgrade or enhance assets can yield savings in running costs with much improved system performances.
