ABSTRACT

Excavations in Singapore are getting deeper especially for the Underground Rail Projects undertaken by Land Transport Authority (LTA). Such excavations require deeper soil investigation boreholes generating more field and laboratory tests that provide more data. In addition, more and deeper geotechnical instruments are required during the excavation stage. These instruments generate numerous data that need to be captured for analysis during construction to highlight remedial actions required to ensure a safe work environment. Hence the Geotechnical Database Information System making use of the latest technology available to capture these data and provide quick retrieval of the information required for the Engineers on sites for design analyses and keeping the construction sites and surroundings safe.
