ABSTRACT

In the design of Singapore’s Rapid Transit Systems (RTS), environmental considerations and sustainable development have always been considered. Energy efficient practices have constantly been adopted and fine-tuned to attain higher goals.

This paper discusses the development of the Green Framework for Rapid Transit System which benchmarks and drives “green” technologies in RTS design. This paper also discusses the green strategies that address particular features of RTS design and operation.
