ABSTRACT

This paper presents the overview of the challenges, co-ordination interface between the design and construction for both Civil and E&M provisions from partial fit-out to full fit-out station. It gives an account of the key considerations and requirements in the design interface and co-ordination processes of Civil and E&M interface. As the internal structure and load bearing walls of the station are required to be built, the E&M openings and cast in items for both partial fit-out and full fit out services were required to be provided during the initial construction stage. This posed challenges in term of space co-ordination to accommodate the E&M requirements for both scenarios. The level of challenge was further elevated as the E&M contractors for the full fit-out station were not on board to provide the information on the required design and sizes of their services as well as the requirements of structural provisions for their equipment.

Keywords: Co-ordination, Fitting out works, E&M provisions.
