Biography

Yi-Qing Ni obtained his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Zhejiang University, and PhD Degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a Professor at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He currently serves as the Director of the National Engineering Research Centre on Rail Transit Electrification and Automation (Hong Kong Branch) and the Chief Research Officer of PolyU-CSRD Joint Innovation Centre for Rail Transit Safety Monitoring Technology.

His research areas cover structural health monitoring, structural dynamics and control, smart materials and structures, sensors and actuators, monitoring and control in rail engineering. Professor Ni has published more than 160 SCI-cited journal papers with an H-index of 31 in Web of Science, and over 260 international conference papers. He was selected as a Highly Cited Researcher in the Field of Civil Engineering by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy and Elsevier in 2016. He received the "SHM Person of the Year Award 2017" (selected by the editorial board of "Structural Health Monitoring: An International Journal") during the 11th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring held in Stanford University on 12-14 September 2017.
