ABSTRACT

Accumulating disaster reduction technology information is important but the more important thing is to apply technologies in the field. Actual implementation of technologies can contribute to achieving safer communities. However, technology information has a possibility to be used for other purposes. To present the other usages of technology information, this paper shows (1) technology development and (2) education/training usage. A safety confirmation system was developed based on the information system which had been registered in the DRH. This is the example of new technology development using registered technology. In Pakistan, education as a process technology was implemented by a local NGO on school students. Through this implementation, the local NGO acquired experiences and knowledge on how to impart education. It enables the local NGO to facilitate or train teachers so that they can conduct disaster education in their school. This is the example of the use of technology information for training. In addition, technology information can be utilized in education for university and graduate students in order to know the practice of disaster risk management. Integrating current education curriculum and technology information can provide more effective curriculum covering theories and practices.
