In this presentation Professor Aven will provide some perspectives on the state-of-the-art of the risk field and science. He will discuss some key developments made in recent years, with a focus on foundational issues. These include risk conceptualization and characterization, black swans and the integration of risk analysis and resilience-based thinking and approaches. The discussion also provides some reflections on the link between risk, reliability, safety and security.
