Message from Chair of Conference Organizing Committee

A warm welcome to Singapore and to the 8th International Conference on Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Pavements (MAIREPAV-8). This is the first time in the history of this prestigious conference series that it is held in Asia. We thank the International Society for Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Transport Infrastructures (iSMARTi) for the honor and the opportunity to host MAIREPAV-8.

We are happy to be the host to this conference. Singapore is the gateway to the exciting world of Southeast Asia. Singapore is also a key transportation and logistics hub of East Asia. Singapore is unique in that it is a melting pot of Asian and European cultures, influenced mainly by Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian cultures. More than 40 percent of its population is foreigners. This is a place where “East meets West” Singapore is also known to be one of the most business friendly places in the world.

Singapore offers an excellent venue for an international event like the MAIREPAV Conference. We are proud to have speakers and participants from more than 30 countries participating in this MAIREPAV- 8 Conference. Through this conference, we hope to provide an effective platform for interactions of pavement researchers and practitioners from all parts of the world.

On behalf of the Conference Organising Committee, I thank all speakers and delegates for your support. It is through your participation that we are able to realize the aim of the MAIREPAV Conference, and make this a truly international event that benefits all pavement engineering professionals. We also wish to record our gratitude to the sponsors who have contributed generously.

I wish all participants a most fruitful time at the Conference, and a pleasant stay in Singapore.
