ABSTRACT

Cell delivery becomes a problem when regenerative medicine and tissue engineering techniques are applied clinically. There is a need to develop a delivery tool that is able to hold viable cells in the defect site over time. In this paper, a concept using physical barriers to envelop and deliver cells is proposed. Polycaprolactone double-layer carriers or bags were fabricated to implement this concept. Preliminary cell culture shows that cells can survive in the carriers over at least one month, enabling further steps to be taken towards a simple yet effective delivery of cells.
