ABSTRACT

It is a critical issue in ageing societies that high quality healthcare services should be provided to the aged and chronics with limited social resources. In this paper, we design a heterogeneous wireless networkbased remote healthcare system to remedy the challenge. Particularly, we propose and design a QoS-triggered vertical handoff scheme in the system to provide the always best connection between the aged or chronics and the healthcare service providers or the families and relatives of them. The simulation results show that the proposed QoS-triggered vertical handoff scheme can provide reasonable QoS guarantee for the applications of the video delivery in the designed remote healthcare system.
