Prof. Aiqing WU |

Prof. Aiqing WU, PhD, Professor, Director of Rock Foundation Department of Yangtze River Scientific Research Institute and the deputy director of Key Laboratory of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering of Ministry of Water Resources. He obtained his Bachelor degree from Wuhan hydraulic and Electric University in 1984, Master degree from Yangtze River Scientific Research Institute in 1987, and PhD degree from Wuhan University in 2006. Since graduated from university, he has been working in the field of rock mechanics mainly involving in hydropower project development for more than twenty years, especially the Three Gorges project. The main researches include rock mechanical test and numerical simulation of rock engineering, especially in Block Theory, DDA and their applications. As praised by Dr Gen-hua Shi, the successful practices of the Block Theory in the stability evaluation of high rock slope excavation of ship-lock engineering in Three Gorges project, during its construction period, is perhaps the main contribution of his researches to rock engineering. |
