Dr. Guowei MA |

Dr. Guowei MA is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He obtained his BSc from Beijing University, MEng from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, and PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr Ma’s research interests include rock dynamics, discontinuous deformation analysis using the numerical manifold method, structure response to shock and impact loading, etc. He is the overall coordinator of the Underground Technology and Rock Engineering (UTRE) research program and the co-investigator of the Jurong Rock Cavern project in the Nanyang Technological University. He is currently the Secretary General of the Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering Geology (Singapore) and the former Secretary General of the Association for Computational Mechanics (Singapore). Dr Ma is also the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Protective Structures and an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Computational Methods and the Frontiers of Architecture and Civil Engineering in China. He is the Chairman of the 9th International Conference on Analysis of Discontinuous Deformation, 25-27 Nov 2009 and the co-chair of the UTRE Workshop, 23-24 Nov 2009. Dr Ma has published two books by Springer and over 120 international journal and conference papers. |
