ABSTRACT
Unsteady heat and mass transfer analysis of hydrogen absorption in liquid cooled metal hydride beds, which consist of multiple filters to distribute hydrogen, has been carried out using commercial software, FLUENT 6.3. LaNi5 is considered as the hydriding alloy because of its salient features like high absorption capacity and moderate hysteresis. Bulk diffusion has been considered for mass transfer in the solid phase. A detailed study is carried out to understand the effect of operating and geometric parameters on hydrogen absorption.
