ABSTRACT

An inverse analysis has been applied to a radiative transport problem in a planar participating medium subjected to a short-pulse laser. Extinction coefficient and scattering albedo have been simultaneously estimated using the inverse analysis. Effects of different genetic parameters such as the crossover probability, the mutation probability, the population size and the numbers of generations on the estimated parameters have been investigated. Effect of measurement error on estimated parameters has also been accounted. The estimated parameters have been found accurate. The finite volume method has been used to solve the radiative transfer equation and the genetic algorithm has been used to minimize the objective function.
