ABSTRACT

The performance characteristics of a newly designed porous radiant burner used for domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cooking stove are presented. The performance was estimated based on the thermal efficiency and emissions of the experimental burner. The highest thermal performance achieved was about 68% in comparison with, 65% (maximum) of conventional domestic LPG cooking stoves. The NOX emission levels were reduced drastically but the CO levels were more in comparison with the conventional burners. The present investigation is really a pathway to the application of the porous radiant burners to the domestic applications.
