ABSTRACT
This paper presents a numerical study of laminar mixed convection and surface radiation in open top, side vented cavities heated from left and insulated on bottom and right top walls. Computations are carried out for Prandtl number Pr = 0.70, surface emissivity for all surfaces ε = 0.05 – 0.85, Richardson number, range of 0.01 – 106, aspect ratio A = 1 – 4 and port ratio W = 0.50, 0.75. Results have been presented for the above parameters in terms of convective and radiative Nusselt number distributions along the left wall.
