Preface

It is a pleasure to present these Proceedings of the Seventh International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards, which should be of interest to all concerned with the scientific aspects of these hazards. These Proceedings contain a record 100 papers. Among these are five plenary papers, authored by renowned international authorities: Mohammednoor Altarawneh (The University of Newcastle), Anthony Hamins (National Institute of Standards and Technology), John Lee (McGill University), Naian Liu (University of Science and Technology of China), and Takashi Tsuruda (Akita Prefectural University). The papers in these Proceedings, selected from 136 submissions of two page abstracts and full manuscripts, were accepted for publication after reviews by the Scientific Advisory Board.

These 100 papers will be presented at the Seventh International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, during May 5 – 10, 2013. This follows past Seminars held in Moscow (1995, 1997), Lake Windemere (2000), Londonderry (2003), Edinburgh (2007), and Leeds (2010). The key Seminar organizers are the International Organizing Committee Co-Chairs Franco Tamanini and Vladimir Molkov; the Scientific Advisory Board Co-Chairs Derek Bradley, Georgy Makhviladze, Vladimir Molkov, Peter Sunderland, and Franco Tamanini; and the Local Organizing Committee Chair Jenny Chao.

The International Organizing Committee expresses thanks to all who will have made the Seminar successful, including the following supporting organizations:
