ABSTRACT
A new kind of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) screw anchor has been developed. Screw vane with involute shape applied to this anchor can crush out little stones around the vane, so the anchor can be turned into soil to any desired length with minimal disturbance. GFRP is adopted as anchor rod, which is flexible and not prone to corrosion, so the service life is extended. The tensile and creep properties of GFRP anchor bar are given in detail. Finally, two engineering practical examples using GFRP screw anchor for stabilizing soil slopes are presented.
