ABSTRACT

Convergence measurements were very familiar and especially powerful tool to decide the design of support measure during tunnel construction. Recently, it became common that the convergence measurement is replaced to an optic instrument from the conventional convergence steel tape. By using this optic instrument, absolute three-dimensional deformation behaviors on the excavation surface would be able to be simply measured. However, three-dimensional deformation behavior in the tunneling is hardly utilized. In this paper, the authors pointed out that axial displacement including the three-dimensional convergence measurement has strongly effected the change of the material properties of the foreground. By using this phenomenon, the authors propose the estimation chart for forecast the foreground condition and applied this chart to real field measurement data.
