Disaster Reduction Technology Accumulation Web-system (Tech-DRAW)
ABSTRACT
We have developed a web-based database system to collect and publish disaster reduction technologies. This system has three fundamental functions: (1) Database (an open and interactive database of implementation technologies), (2) Forum (a forum for facilitating proposed technologies and a place for discussion on the technologies), and (3) Links (links to relevant initiatives). In the Database, all contents that passed through the facilitation process are made accessible to public. Anyone can find contents from the list page. An advanced search function is also available. In each content page, a common format header, contact information, and the main texts on the technology are shown. Figures and pictures can be inserted to the body of texts, and other files (PDF, movie, application, etc.) can be attached to the contents. Each content has an individual Forum (bulletin board system or BBS) and registered users participate in discussions on the contents. In the Forum, registered users can post their disaster reduction technologies by filling out the Template on the website. The registered users can also add their initiatives' information to the Links by filling out a form. This system has other various features. This web-based system is used by the Disaster Reduction Hyperbase website (http://drh.edm.bosai.go.jp/).
