ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to report the results of accurately estimating an acceleration Fourier amplitude spectrum (AFS) on ground surface at an arbitrary point. The authors have proposed a method to estimate an AFS on ground surface at an arbitrary point using database of transfer functions of the ground surface strata and observed earthquake records. By using observed records in Owari-asahi City, Aichi prefecture, Japan and Kik-net installed outside the city, the estimation accuracy of AFS all seismometer points are particularly higher than using only observed records within the city. Also, it is found that the correlation coefficient between the estimated and the observed value at each of the seismometer points was 0.70 to 1.00 based on the observed records in the city and Kik-net. On the contrary, the correlation coefficient based on only the observed records in the city were 0.3 to 1.00.
