ABSTRACT

An experimental lab course on accelerated life testing is conducted at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the University of Defence in Brno. The course is offered to students in the fifth semester as part of the bachelor degree program of functional safety and is held in English. The paper discusses didactical aspects and learning outcomes as well as the structure and the workload of the course. The roles, activities, and responsibilities of the students are described in terms of data analysis and validation, and report writing. Moreover, a liquid-based climate chamber has been designed and built, nicknamed the Fearsum Endjinn, to increase significantly the dynamic of the hot and cold phases compared to conventional air climate chambers.
