ABSTRACT
With the development of the national economy and society, and the improvement of spiritual needs of residents, the adverse effects of internal traffic in existing residential areas with obvious historical imprints have gradually been exposed. In recent years, constructing "resilient cities" and the creating "resilient residential areas" have become the focus of attention for citizens. In this context, the paper takes the East Cluster of Overseas Chinese Town in Shenzhen as the research object to explore the traffic safety evaluation indicator system of existing residential areas, identify the issues in the internal traffic development of existing residential areas, and provide reference basis for the transformation of existing residential areas. This paper uses the entropy method in the evaluation and obtains research data by means of open-source websites and on-site research. The results show that the risk factors that have a greater impact on traffic safety in the East Cluster include occupying passage for parking, occupying green belt for parking, turning mirrors, speed bumps, pedestrian spaces, public spaces and roadway intersections. Finally, transformation suggestions of "adapting to development, and back to basics; harmonious coexistence between humans and nature; connecting facilities and improving quality" are proposed based on the evaluation results.
Keywords: Existing residential area, Traffic, Safety evaluation, Risk factor, East cluster.
