ABSTRACT

Reconfigurable computing and architectures can achieve significant effectiveness in energy and performance. The hardware is able to re-wire itself into different architectures by simply configuring the controls to meet the requirement changes of specific applications and performance. In this paper, an efficient reconfigurable data path to support five modes of operation: ECB mode, CBC mode, CFB mode, OFB mode, and CTR mode in symmetric key cryptography has been proposed. This cost-effective reconfigurable data path can be applied to symmetric key cryptosystems to provide different security services.
