<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>The IAEA safety guides establishes that technical obsolescence of SSCs important to safety must be managed proactively and within a program for the management of obsolescence. According to these requirements and their respective national regulations, several licensees have implemented an obsolescence management program (OMP) as a part of their ageing management program (AMP). According to the proactive philosophy implemented for managing technological obsolescence in most of the AMP, this paper focusses on reviewing the effect of technical obsolescence on current RAMS models, which is an attempt of exploring the viability of using such models as part of set of tools for analysing the impact of obsolescence management in a risk-informed decision-making context. A preliminary application case is presented that focusses on a safety component.</p>
