<article-title>Method of 3-dimensional Decision Space in the Risk Assessment Process in Road Transport</article-title>

<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>The research conducted by the author concerns the development of an operational risk management method in the road transport process. The first step in the proposed method is to determine the context for the analysis to be carried out. This context defines the framework for the subsequent risk assessment. This approach is compatible with ISO 31000. The conducted research is focused on risk analysis at the operational level. The aim of the risk assessment is therefore to support decision-making processes in the company connected with the transport operational planning performance. This planning applies to the handling of individual transport orders being reported for service. Therefore the decision-making process of managers is aimed at planning the resources required to carry out transport services and preparing delivery schedules according to customer requests.<br/>
Research carried out by the author among road transport companies shows that when planning the service of a transport order, managers take into account three characteristics: the group of products being transported, the segment of the customer who orders the transport service and the route where the transport is carried out. Therefore the risk assessment should apply in connection with the transport orders of each class described in 3-dimensional decision space product/customer/route. The aim of the article is to present the impact of these three characteristics on identified undesirable events and the estimated risk index. Therefore, the author presented a case study for a selected company. In the carried out risk assessment process, undesirable events characteristic for individual classes of transport orders and of universal character were distinguished. The risk indicator for universal undesirable events was also estimated and the differences between types of the class of transport orders were indicated</p>
