<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>Solar and galactic radiation interferes with molecules in the earth&#39;s atmosphere, creating by cascading effects, neutrons and protons. At low altitude, this mainly results in the production of neutrons which can interact with electronic components (1). These interactions can result in various possible adverse effects for electronic components called Single Event Effects (SEE). Therefore it is necessary to consider SEE in the design of helicopter critical systems in order to ensure an appropriate safety level, and also for non-critical systems in order to limit possible nuisance resulting from incorrect behaviour. Several methods can be applied and are accepted in the scope of a certification. Nevertheless all methods are not equivalent from an industry perspective, considering time/cost efficiency. It is necessary to drive the design from the very beginning of the development to enable conditions which allow selection of the most efficient method.</p>
