<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>Bulk microforging processes from metal strip are increasingly adopted by manufacturers in fields like electronics and micromechanics. These kinds of processes offer on the one hand a solution to handling problems with microparts and on the other hand are capable to realize complex products with favorable mechanical properties. This paper presents an experimental study on a microforging process of parallel ribs, investigating in particular the aspect ratio of the formed geometry in relation to forging force and punch stroke. The process has been designed based on a more complex forging operation which is part of a microforming chain. The need of an in depth process knowledge has driven to the realization of a simplified test, allowing the analysis of the material flow for a wide force range separatedly from other steps of the microforming chain. The forged profile consists of two parallel ribs with the width of 200 &#x00B5;m, formed on a 300 &#x00B5;m thick stainless steel strip, in which the lateral geometry of the forging area has the same dimension as the original process. The study pointed out the different trends of workpiece lateral deformation and die filling, in order to identify convenient process steering parameters.  </p><p><italic>Keywords: </italic>Microforging, Stainless steel, Sheet-bulk metal forming. </p>
