The growing demand for housing and other building infrastructure for various purposes and continuous depletion of natural resources necessitates that energy is utilized in an optimal manner. By leveraging technologies one can not only ensure optimal use of energy but also ensure that there is minimum loss of energy. Considerable research is being done towards green buildings which adhere to all the green initiative prescribed by organizations like GRIHA. Building Information Modelling (BIM) system with intelligence can satisfy this need in a more holistic manner by having provisions to accommodate multi-disciplinary information within an integrated/composite model. An integrated intelligent system that can facilitate design of smart sustainable buildings through an effective Decision Support System (DSS) catering to all aspects of a building such as aesthetic design, energy efficiency, green features, safety and security is proposed in this paper.
