ABSTRACT

Analysis of framed structures, accounting for the contribution of infill, adds to their complexity. The interaction between the frame and the infill, changes the collapse mechanism and hence cannot be neglected, especially under reverse cyclic loading such as during earthquakes. The presence of opening of different sizes and shapes further alters the response of infilled frames. This paper is aimed at developing an analytical model for frames infilled with masonry panels having openings. The proposed analytical model is further used to study the effect of various parameters on the collapse mechanism of infilled frame structures.
