ABSTRACT

Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) of randomly varying pressures from wind tunnel experiments on a 2-D rectangular section with B/D (B is the dimension along the flow direction and D is the dimension normal to the flow direction) of 0.5 under uniform, smooth flow has been carried out. POD analysis corresponding to two cases, one considering pressures on individual face of the rectangular section and another case considering pressures on all faces together have been carried out. Further, with the limited number of POD modes, the pressures at individual pressure tap locations have been reconstructed. It has been demonstrated that there is substantial reduction in pressure data sets, whereas the spatio-temporal characteristics of the acquired pressure data has been preserved.
