ABSTRACT

In this paper, the fracture mechanics based method proposed by Bazant and Oh is used for the calculation of creep deflection of thirty simply supported reinforced concrete beams (whose test results are reported by Washa and Fluck). The deflection due to shrinkage is estimated using EC2 method. The creep coefficient and the shrinkage strains are estimated using modified B3 model. Comparison of the computed long term deflection values with the corresponding experimental values suggests that the proposed method estimates satisfactorily the long term deflections. Keywords: Deflection, Creep, Bazant Fracture model, EC 2, Strain softening, Modified B3 model, RC beam.
