ABSTRACT

This paper deals with free vibration of a composite laminate with and without imperfections using the modified higher order shear deformation theory. Analytical formulation and solutions of the natural frequencies are calculated. This study is devoted to linear analysis and focused on the same the same, with imperfections based on finite element sense. An nine nodded iso-parametric element is used for the discretization of the model. The presented values are found consistent with various available literatures. Examples are solved for different parameters like boundary conditions, stacking sequence, aspect ratio, thickness etc. using the proposed model. The results presented in this investigation could be useful for a better understanding of the behavior of composite laminate with imperfections under free vibration conditions and potentially beneficial to the on-going researchers.
