ABSTRACT

Prediction of settlement of foundation under the actual field condition simulating soilstructure interaction (SSI) effect is essential for structural design. In the present study, three dimensional finite element numerical modelling of isolated, raft shallow foundations and deep foundation viz., single pile is done with SSI in OpenseesPL computer program and the comparisons are made with elastic solutions from literature. Good agreement is observed between the three dimensional finite element static analysis with SSI and elastic solutions, which indicates the accuracy of modelling and hence can be adopted for more complex load and sub-surface soil conditions.
