<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>The measured pressures from wind tunnel study are converted to coefficients of pressures by normalising with the reference velocity measured at respective levels, based on simulated boundary layer flow corresponding to open terrain. The cooling tower has been subsequently analysed in three different ways to obtain meridional and hoop stresses <br />(N<sub><font face="symbol">&#934;</font></sub> and N<sub>&#952;</sub>). The values and trends of these stresses thus derived are further compared with those reported in other literature and found to be matching.  </p>
