ABSTRACT

Corrugated pipes are normally used due to their global flexibility as well as local rigidity. But, unlike the flow through a normal pipe, the periodically varying geometry makes the flow patterns in these pipes different. The flow through such pipes can give rise to strong whistling tones as well as result in higher losses than in normal pipes. The objective of this CFD analysis is to analyse the flow pattern in such pipes and to make suitable modification to the pipe geometry in order to reduce the losses induced in these pipes. CFD Simulations have been performed using ANSYS FLUENT.
