As previous part of this study explained, one of the most important technical issues in seismic PRA is treatment of correlation. The most of current seismic PRA conducted in Japan assumes conservative perfect correlation, and few cases have been analysed with proper consideration of seismic correlation so far. In order to provide the solutions, Ohtori et Al.(1) propose partial correlation calculation method based on common variabilities categorized into free field, ground, building and component based on Reed McCann Procedure, and case studies using this methodology and simple system model of RHR system was shown in the previous research.
On the other hand, the other correlation such as periodic correlation, which is the correlation by difference of period of the seismic motions and the relationship with SSC's natural frequency, has come to be considered necessary. Therefore, we have developed the correlation model considering periodic correlation which is presented in part 2 and 3 of this study. So through case studies considering partial correlation and periodic correlation, we would obtain insights and knowledge of seismic correlation associated with these correlation models. The results of case studies could show the accuracy these models. And based on the sensitivity analysis and the results, the feasibility of feedback to the performance-based design would be confirmed.
