ABSTRACT

In order to satisfy performance requirements of High-Performance Seismic Dampers (HPSDs), which are expected to withstand strong earthquakes three times without being replaced, this paper proposed a new bolted aluminium alloy Buckling Restrained Brace (BRB) based on the advantages of using aluminium alloys as a BRB's material. A low-cycle fatigue experiment, including 6 A6061S-T6 aluminium alloy specimens, was carried out to evaluate the fatigue performance of bolted BRBs. Fatigue test results under the constant and variable amplitude loadings show that all the specimens have good hysteretic performance and most of the specimens can meet the cumulative inelastic deformation requirement of the HPSD.
