ABSTRACT

Metal forming process is one important element in the manufacturing industry. However, the problems of spring back often a major problem in this metal industry. Various approaches to solve this problem have been done by previous researchers, including experimental and simulation methods. The study was conducted to examine and analyze the various parameters and metal forming process is seen to impact on the spring back behavior. Among the experimental parameters involved are diverse types of aluminium, thickness variation, change the angle and material properties. While the process involved is the number of stages of development. In addition, the effect of spring back of aluminium sheets with a hole will be emphasized. Specimens with different thickness measuring 200 mm × 25 mm formed with different angles of V dies at constant speed of 100 mm / min. Results showed that the thinner the aluminium to produce a higher spring back than the thickness of aluminium. To change the die angle, spring back increases as the die angle increases. In addition, the formation of a two-stage process is the most ideal process to reduce the amount of spring back than one level. Finally, the metal forming process that has the hole on aluminium sheet, spring back increases as the thickness of aluminium increases.
