ABSTRACT

Flexural strength of a concrete filled steel tubular short column can be obtained by superposed strength method when the concrete strength, the steel strength and the width-thickness-ratio are generally used ones. The ultimate loads have been well discussed by comparing with the analytical values obtained by the ultimate strengthmethod and experimental results. However, the relationship between the yield strength and the superposed strength has not been discussed. The purpose of this paper is to calculate the superposed strength and the yield strength of CFT columns andtodiscuss the relationship ofbothstrengths.Accordingtothe results, the superposed strength and the yield strength are differentwhen the yield strength of steel is large and thewidththickness ratio, the compressive strength and the strain at a compressive strength are small.
